IBKR Toolbox: Creating Custom Layouts in the IBKR Desktop

The IBKR Desktop is a powerful, user-friendly trading platform that has predefined screens at the click of an icon, as well as offering the investor the ability to create custom layouts on the platform.

On the left-hand side of the screen are nine icons, five at the top and 4 at the bottom. Clicking the “My Layouts” icon, which is the fifth down, will take the investor to the custom layouts screen.

There are two pre-configured custom screens, Basic Trading and Option Trading, which can be downloaded multiple times. To create a custom layout the investor clicks on the plus sign icon at the top left of the screen and chooses “Custom Layout”.

This will bring up a blank page with the Custom Layout toolbox open, displaying all the available tools. The toolbox can also be accessed by clicking on the toolbox icon at the top-right hand side of the screen. The tools can also be filtered by Quote, Trade, and Information related tools.

The investor can add tools by clicking on the tools they are interested in adding. A tool may be added more than once to a page. Once the page has been created the tiles can be linked together using the Color Grouping feature, like the Trader Workstation.

Once the page has been created the investor can rename it, duplicate it, delete it, or detach the page and place it on another monitor.

The IBKR Desktop My Layouts feature allows the investor to customize their trading interface by creating personalized workspace configurations using the tools most useful for their Desktop experience.
