The Canada 3% CPI “Yes” Was Priced at $0.49: Sept. 11, 2026

On Friday, Canada’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) was anticipated to be unchanged on an annualized basis, as a repeat of July’s 3% was likely, according to the Interactive Brokers Prediction Markets. The “Yes” at 3% on the Friday prior to the Monday report was priced at $0.49, essentially depicting a 50-50 probability of an upside beat. Now, if you believed on Friday that rising energy costs last month could drive a hotter CPI, taking the over may have been a wise choice, as the figure could rise to 3.1% or 3.2%. However, if you anticipated that cooler inflationary impulses in the other categories impeded an increase, just like Friday’s US August CPI, which matched July’s 3.4%, then the “No” for $0.51 would have been an opportunity. It was really a coin flip.
