Zohran Mamdani’s likelihood of winning the New York City mayoral election hit a fresh record of 93% yesterday, a level that was repeated today. His probabilities are benefiting from Republican Party candidate Curtis Sliwa refusing to drop out of the race. If Sliwa leaves the contest, his supporters would almost certainly support former State Governor Andrew Cuomo, whose political leanings hover in the middle of the pack, a stark contrast from Mamdani, who identifies as a democratic socialist. The developments have weighed on Cuomo’s chances, with his odds now dropping below 10%. Approximately 5.31 million open contracts exist tied to this event as voters of the five boroughs gear up to hit the booths in a little over two weeks on Nov. 4.
