Greenland “Yes” Rises To 29%, Ideas for Tomorrow’s Expiries: Jan. 7, 2025

President Trump’s recent comments concerning his ambitions to acquire Greenland are raising the probability of it becoming part of the US in our prediction market. The 8% chance as of Jan. 2 has since leaped to as high as 29% as of Wednesday.

WEI Has Exceeded 2.2% For Five Straight Weeks

The Dallas Fed’s Weekly Economic Index has exceeded 2.2% for five consecutive weeks. As of Wednesday, ForecastTrader participants placed a 50% likelihood that it would exceed that level in the Jan. 8 report.

Expecting Initial Claims Around 210K

Initial claims tend to be volatile near the holidays and Wall Street and our market alike are expecting a number near 210k. Indeed, there’s a 64% chance of a result above 210k, but just a 16% likelihood of a print failing to arrive north of 200k and 24% odds of a statistic coming in ahead of 220k.
