ForecastEx added new prediction market contracts Friday morning to capture the expected changes in weather patterns though the Northeast during the subsequent two days and in Hawaii in the next several days. The nor’easter storm and Hurricane Nola were projected to lift wind speeds in the upcoming few hours. When comparing the probabilities on Friday of the impact of the nor’easter on cities across Massachusetts, New York and Rhode Island, Nantucket was expected to feel it the most, with a 52% chance of wind exceeding 57 miles per hour (MPH) by the end of Friday night. Martha’s Vineyard, New York City, Providence and Boston were anticipated to experience lighter but still significant impacts, as there were 46%, 45%, 44% and 29% likelihoods of seeing speeds faster than 53, 44, 42 and 41 MPH, according to the Interactive Brokers Prediction Markets. These Northeastern environmental instruments had expirations on Friday, Sept. 25 and Saturday, Sept. 26.

Hurricane Nolo Likely To Hit Hilo Hardest
For Hurricane Nolo, a storm that was expected to affect Hawaii over the weekend, the highest wind gusts were anticipated to exist in Hilo, at a 35% probability as of Friday. Kahului and Honolulu were at 28% and 25%, meanwhile, when analyzing choices across Interactive Brokers Prediction Markets. These contracts expire on Oct. 15
