Initial Claims Were Expected to Be Around 210k: Apr. 1, 2026

On Wednesday, Interactive Brokers predictive market participants expected initial unemployment claims to arrive near 210k on Thursday. The predictive platform featured prices for a figure above that threshold at 50%, and a statistic at or below at 48%. It would mark the seventh consecutive week of a number around 210k as the past six prints have ranged between 205k and 214k. Meanwhile, looking over and under, the “Yes” at 220k and the “No” at 200k on Wednesday were going for 21% and 16%. But the weekly Reuters poll of 35 forecasters offered an unusually wide range of potential outcomes, with minimum and maximum values at 197k and 220k alongside a median of 212k.
