At the top of the popup menu is a preset for if one or more accounts fail to meet the margin requirements when an order is submitted. \u00a0The advisor can select either:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reject the entire order or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reduce order size<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The bottom of the popup contains Allocation Method Preferences. There are two columns:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Groups Using: NetLiq, Available Equity, Equal Quantity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Groups Using: user-specified allocation methods<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"562\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.interactivebrokers.com\/campus\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/02\/allocation-presets-2.jpg\" alt=\"client portal configure allocation presets\" class=\"wp-image-205502 lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1000px; aspect-ratio: 1000\/562;\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Each column contains presets for opening positions and when closing positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the presets have been configured, the advisor selects Save.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-configuring-allocation-groups\">Configuring Allocation Groups<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The advisor can create Groups of accounts to use when allocating trades. Some popular uses of Groups are grouping by risk score or taxable vs non-taxable. From the menu, within the Trade menu, select Allocation Groups. Any previously created groups will be displayed on the screen. The advisor can also use the search bar to search for any created groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"562\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.interactivebrokers.com\/campus\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/02\/allocation-groups.jpg\" alt=\"client portal allocation groups\" class=\"wp-image-205501 lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1000px; aspect-ratio: 1000\/562;\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>To create a group, the advisor selects the New Group button. The Advisor creates a group name and then starts by adding available accounts to the group. To add accounts, select the green + icon next to the account number. To remove any included accounts, select the red \u2013 icon. Next, the advisor selects an allocation method for the group from the dropdown menu. There are three default methods along with four user specified methods. The default methods are<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Available Equity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Net Liquidation Value, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Equal<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Available Equity distributes shares based on the amount of available equity in each account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Net Liquidation Value distributes shares based on the net liquidation value of each account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Equal distributes the shares to bring all accounts in the group to equal quantities by the end of the trade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The user specified methods include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Percent Based<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ratio Based<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contract\/Shares, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monetary Amount<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Percent Based: splits the total number of shares in the order between listed accounts based on the percentages the advisor indicates.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ratio Based: calculates the allocation of shares based on the ratios the advisor enters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contract\/Shares: allows the advisor to indicate how many contracts\/shares to allocate to each account in the group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Monetary Amount: calculates the number of units to be allocated based on the monetary value assigned to each account.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If using a user specified method, once the advisor selects the method, they will fill in the Allocation Method column with the necessary parameters. Add available accounts, remove included accounts, or adjust the allocation method and select Save once complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-delete-allocation-groups\">Delete Allocation Groups<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Delete an existing Allocation Group by selecting the Delete trash icon and selecting Yes to confirm deletion of the
