The model will be plugged right into all of Meta\u2019s products, from Facebook to WhatsApp. Early reviews haven\u2019t all been friendly \u2013 but investors nonetheless sent Meta\u2019s\u00a0stock\u00a0up more than 9% by Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mark Zuckerberg previously claimed that open source AI is the \u201cworld\u2019s best shot\u201d at making the tech useful, but Muse Spark\u2019s training and code won\u2019t be public. That\u2019s a strategic shift: the social media company now seems to think that the way to make AI pay is by controlling \u2013 and charging for \u2013 access to its model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-why-should-i-care\"><strong>Why should I care?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Zooming out:<\/strong><\/em>&nbsp;<em>Hey, big spender.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We all know that Big Tech is spending big money on AI infrastructure \u2013 blowing as much as $675 billion on data centers, chips, and power this year alone. But they\u2019ve struggled to figure out how to make AI wash its own face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now there\u2019s evidence that\u00a0revenues\u00a0are picking up among some frontier AI companies. Anthropic is now\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/finimize.com\/content\/anthropic-signed-a-major-ai-deal-with-big-tech\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">on track<\/a>\u00a0to rake in $30 billion a year on Claude\u00a0sales, OpenAI is set to pull in about $24 billion, and even the smaller firms are gathering steam.\u00a0<strong>Perplexity<\/strong>, for example, is on pace to hit $450 million, a 50% jump from earlier this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This doesn\u2019t mean that the economics have been worked out \u2013 companies are still burning through cash, and computing bills are still ginormous.
