{"id":195478,"date":"2024-06-26T10:45:00","date_gmt":"2024-06-26T14:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ibkrcampus.eu\/uncategorized\/apple-to-gain-market-share-with-ai-smartphone-says-bullish-analyst-skate-to-where-the-ai-puck-is-going\/"},"modified":"2024-06-27T09:02:41","modified_gmt":"2024-06-27T09:02:41","slug":"apple-to-gain-market-share-with-ai-smartphone-says-bullish-analyst-skate-to-where-the-ai-puck-is-going","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.interactivebrokers.eu\/campus\/traders-insight\/securities\/stocks\/apple-to-gain-market-share-with-ai-smartphone-says-bullish-analyst-skate-to-where-the-ai-puck-is-going\/","title":{"rendered":"Apple To Gain Market Share With AI Smartphone, Says Bullish Analyst: &#8216;Skate To Where The AI Puck Is Going&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-zinger-key-points\">ZINGER KEY POINTS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Apple could gain market share with its AI smartphones, one analyst says.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A consumer emphasis on privacy could put Apple ahead of the competition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Technology giant&nbsp;<strong>Apple Inc&nbsp;<\/strong>is being upgraded by a Street analyst Wednesday on the heels of its artificial intelligence initiatives shown off at the company&#8217;s Worldwide Developers Conference<a href=\"https:\/\/www.benzinga.com\/news\/24\/06\/39256948\/tim-cook-announces-apple-intelligence-for-iphones-calls-it-next-big-step-tremendously-excited\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&nbsp;earlier this month.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-apple-analyst-nbsp\"><strong>The Apple Analyst:<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rosenblatt analyst Barton Crockett upgraded shares of Apple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-apple-takeaways\"><strong>The Apple Takeaways<\/strong>: <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Apple could see a market share lift after unveiling its Apple Intelligence software with a focus on privacy, Crockett said in a new investor note.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The privacy focus of Apple Intelligence is unmatched by Android, which is owned by&nbsp;<strong>Alphabet Inc&nbsp;<\/strong>the analyst said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Strong privacy is by far the top feature consumers want in AI, based on our recent US survey,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The privacy concerns could tip the AI risk-reward in Apple&#8217;s favor, Crockett said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A survey of over 500 consumers saw 17.8% list strong privacy as the top feature they wanted in an AI smartphone, according to Rosenblatt. Insight \u2014 questions answered by AI \u2014 ranked second at 12.2%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Apple appears positioned to gain brand interest and AI market share from its out-of-the-gate focus on strong privacy.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Apple&#8217;s focus on specialized large language models and Apple silicon processors could help the company with cost pressures and standing out from competitors, the analyst said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;So Apple can have its cake (healthy margins) and eat it too.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Consumers do not currently expect to accelerate their purchases of AI smartphones, but that could change with new features, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe puck is moving towards greater AI interest, we believe. We\u2019d rather step up with a Wayne Gretzky-esque skate to where the AI puck is going, than stand in place and watch the AI puck pass us by.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The analyst compared the launch of AI smartphones from Apple to the iPhone 12, which brought a 39% pop in iPhone sales in 2021, possibly due to the transition to 5G devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-aapl-price-action\"><strong>AAPL Price Action<\/strong>: <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Apple shares are up 1.36% to $211.91 on Wednesday versus a 52-week trading range of $164.08 to $220.20.
